The Poem:

I don’t deserve the sky
It’s too peaceful, too kind
I don’t deserve the grass
As in the sun it shines
But the grasses sway
And The sky performs away
So, here I lay

Inspiration:

Part of the Forgiveness Collection, this piece captures the open freedom of true forgiveness, and specifically truly forgiving yourself. Which is often the hardest part of forgiveness. It’s easy to still feel guilty even after we know God has already forgiven us. This is pseudo guilt! We can claim God’s promises that He has forgiven us and then we should forgive ourselves too. Even if we don’t feel like it we can make the choice. As with all forgiveness the feelings don’t have to be there when you do it, BUT, they do eventually catch up! So let's allow ourselves to experience joy, lay in the grass and watch the sky go by.

My Story:

I didn't realize how angry I was at myself until the layers of everything I had yet to truly forgive started peeling off. I realized I actually blamed myself for a lot of the hard things that had happened to me. It was a subconscious nag that I had always been the problem. I would withhold good things from myself because I didn't deserve them. I hadn't forgiven myself. I had to flesh through what I actually had to forgive myself for and discard the lies. I had to make the choice to forgive myself and believe it. Treat myself differently and talk to myself differently. Claim that I was worthy, even when I didn't feel like it. <3
